A DAY IN MALAYSIA

Malaysia is the first place I have ever been outside Philippines. It was only a day tour, so we only planned to see the Petronas Tower. We departed Manila at around 7:00am and arrived at around 11:00am.

The Airport Experience.

The Kuala Lumpur International Airport is hug. HUUUUUUUGE. Upon disembarking the plane, we walked through long hallways, i thought would never end. the walkalators are there for a purpose. You go up and down and everywhere before you’d reach the baggage claim area.

Since it was our first time, we immediately checked on how we could get to the hotel less expensively. The last thing we’d ever think of is riding a TAXI. No-uh! So we went to the information counter and asked where we could take a ride to KL. We were directed to take a shuttle bus.

The shuttle buses are available from 5:00am to 11:00pm and departs every 30 mins. It costs RM10 (P110).

Upon arriving in KL, you will be transferred to a van which will take you to your hotel for FREE.

A Search for the Missing Hotel.

We had a problem looking for the hotel I booked via Air Asia App. It’s NON EXISTENT. We walked for hours around the address placed at the hotel information box in the app and asked people around, NO ONE KNEW WHERE THAT FREAKING HOTEL WAS. The name of the hotel is City Park Hotel Kuala Lumpur. I would recommend booking at Agoda. Ever since that happened, I’ve never booked a hotel at the Air Asia App again. It would be a problem when it’s your first time abroad, and you don’t have an internet connection, and you’re on budget.

So we decided to walk and find a nearest hotel. Luckily, we came across a new decent looking hotel, AKAR HOTEL. We paid for about RM140 (P1540) for an overnight stay. It’s was actually not bad since the room came with a free coffee, water, Cable TV, Fridge and more. It’s near the MRT stop at Chow Kit and a few walks to Mcdonalds, just incase you get fastfoodie. A Walk to Remember.

Going to the Petronas Tower, we decided to just take a walk. It took us about 4 hours. Only because we did not realize we were taking the long cut, and we got lost a couple of times. But on our way home, we could no longer walk that long since it was already around 9:00pm. There was a near MRT station but we got to exhausted from walking. We opted to take the bus but upon asking around, no bus from KL Sentral would pass by the Hotel. Luck was on our side when a service driver offered to take us home. We got to know him as Mr. WAN.

He offers a tour around the Malaysia for RM250 (P2750) with his 4 seater car. It covers 9 tourist destinations. It’s actually a good offer. Transportation actually costs much in Malaysia. (Below are his contact details)

Final thoughts:

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is a clean and beautiful place to tour around. It has beautiful skyscrapers and beautiful lights at night. It’s an expensive place though. But, it’s worth the visit.

I havent really toured around Malaysia yet, but when I come back, I’d make sure to book Mr. Wan’s tour service.
